When the orthodontist puts on your braces it doesn't hurt as the coolness of the glue kind of numbs your teeth but the aftermath (30 minutes after) does because the metal starts to make an impact on your teeth. It sounds a bit scary but you will get used to it and remember that using a brace with increase your health and the beauty of your teeth!

∙ 14y agoBraces do not tend to hurt, it is more of an ache feeling, even so it is nothing a little painkillers can't handle and the ache should be gone within 2-3 days. Please do check instructions before taking any medication

Then you can choose your color for your braces 1 time every month. But if you put your braces like when you are 17 it hurts more so I recommend you to do your braces as soon as possibleI took out my braces already. =]

no it does not hurt to put braces on.but its kinda creepy when they put the really sharp tools into your mouth. they will ask you if you want colors on there braces. then they put on the wires and then u r all set and ready to go home.but if u r a kid it is kinda emberrissing when u go to school with braces for the 1st time. then they will get used to it.

I found that the bands actually hurt a lot more than the actual braces...in fact putting the braces on was a piece of cake... :) i agree, i mean i have bands on ATM and im getting more braces (traintracks) in two days time and the pulling of the teeth from the bands is extremely painful and, as all my mates have traintracks, apprantley the actual braces don't hurt as much and the only thing that hurts when getting your braces on is the numbness in your butt when you have to sit there for an hour whilst the dentist puts the braces on :)

You will have to get braces if your teeth are twisted but you don't have to get them until your 20,30 or 40 years old and your teeth can untwist if you lose all your baby teeth I think.
