Side Effects: Anxiety, confusion, depression, irritability, or other mood or mental changes; continuous, uncontrolled back and forth and/or rolling eye movements. There is no mention is weight gain or a lessening of appetite. However, this doesn't mean it isn't so and it's important you have your doctor look it up in his "Black Book" for medications. All doctors have this. If you are on antidepressants because of this medication SSRIs can certainly cause weight gain in many people. IMPORTANT: Just because you read a list of side effects DOES NOT mean you will have any of the side effects or may only experience a few. Usually once your system is use to the medication most side effects go away, but if not, then you should see your doctor. Also (IMPORTANT) when you get your prescription filled asked your pharmacist for a "print out." This will give you all the information you need on the drug you are taking.

I've been taking lamictal for a year and a half and I have slowly, but surely gained around 20 pounds! I don't understand why in some cases you gain weight nd in others you don't seem to, but I have noticed a not-so-subtle weight gain in myself. The most unflattering if I may say so myself.

Lumictal is an anticonvulsant drug used to treat certain types of seizures. This medication shouldn't be used to "help with weight loss". Really the only real way to help with weight loss is to put in the work...meaning exercise and choose better ways to eat.

I've lost weight since taking this med. Not a whole lot, but tI'm 5' 9" and originally weight 129 lbs. , not I'm 115. Keep in mind I am 5' 9". No other explanation except lamictal.
