It's all down to the genes you inherit from parents and grandparents that decide when you are ready to hit puberty. Just as they decide what you will look like, how tall you will be and many other features too.
We are all unique and have Puberty at different times to our friends and peers. The average age for puberty to begin is 10-years-old for girls and 12-years-old for boys, but this differs such a lot between individuals as nobody is exactly the same as anyone else. You may start earlier or later, but you will start, and you will go through puberty and become an adult by the time you are in your late teenage years or early twenties.

∙ 15y agoThe rate of puberty depends a lot upon genetics/dna. Most females start their period around the age that their mother did. It also had to do with the nutrition that each child has grown up with. Someone who has eaten chemically processed foods, and foods with growth hormones all their life will most likely reach puberty before someone who has been protected against those kinds of harmful foods.

∙ 14y agoA lot of it has to do with genetics and the child's lifestyle. Some people say that intense exercise (or highly athletic) children start puberty later. Also, those who eat processed foods with hormones may start puberty earlier.

∙ 14y agoits really in your genes. for example, if ur mom had her period in 7th grade, you'll have it around that time 2. if she grew boobs around 6th grade, you probably will 2. if she grew pubic hair around 6th grade, u will 2! get it now?

What happens is, Some people Might just start puberty a little faster then you.
there's nothing you can really control about it, it just happens, so there is nothing to be embarrassed about or anything.
Another reason this may happen if one of your parents were a late bloomer. (Male OR female) .
And if a girl is taller than you it's normal as well. (they start puberty a little earlier (mostly 8-9 years. boys start 10-11 years)
