Smoking or otherwise consuming cannabis can trigger a migraine for some people. If the marijuana itself does not trigger some people, the fact that the pupil is dilated and takes in an extreme amount of light can trigger a migraine in those who find different light sources to be a major trigger for them.
However, marijuana can help abort a migraine as well. And even if it does not abort a migraine completely, it does provide relief from the effects of nausea. Once again, though - where in the middle of a migraine attack most sufferers are extremely light sensitive, it is imperative that they protect the eye after consuming cannabis so that they don't increase their pain.

∙ 15y agoIn my experience, consuming marijuana has helped my headaches, from mild general headaches to more intense migraines. I much prefer this method to the prescription medication alternative, where dependencies can be formed along with the damage prescription drugs do to your system. Marijuana is also known to help with nausea, Arthritis, glaucoma, back pains, etc. And, in my trials, have helped with headaches, muscle soreness and actually helps me concentrate.

∙ 14y agoI actually smoke pot whenever I get a really horrible migraine. Lay down and just relax to some very soft music, it can cure a bad migrane quite effectively. smoking pot is very bad for you and can cause lung cancer!!!!!!!!!!!

∙ 13y agoTechnically, you cannot "cure" a migraine. You can, however, get rid of it, or make it go away. I have heard that marijuana can get rid of headaches, but i feel its dependent on the person, as smoke can also cause a headache. Take two Advil, lay in a cool, dark, and quiet room, and put a cold damp washcloth on your forehead. Do whatever you can to avoid thinking about the pain from the headache, and you should be alright.
Marijuana is prescribed for migraines. It can be used as a preventative as well as for immediate relief but if treatment is stopped migraines will return.
