well kind of, it can teach people, or entertain people. But to me it depends on the channel, so if you are whatching, say for example YTV, their might be some good influences, and aswell if you are whatching say MTV (for some shows they play) it could be a bad influence. so it depends on the channel.

One danger of too much television that I have observed is that it hinders the development of a child's visual imagination.

Reading or hearing stories, listening to the radio, causes a child to create the scene in his mind. Hence these media develop a visual imagination in the child.

Television doesn't do that. It gives the child a ready made picture so she doesn't need to use her imagination. Hence that faculty does not develop.

Does it matter? I think it does. When that person becomes an adult and encounters the inevitable difficulties that life throws up, an undeveloped imagination will mean the adult is less able to deal with them. He will be unable to think through problems clearly or to foresee the probable consequences of any course of action.
