No. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) do not believe in the rapture. They believe that the rapture is an unbiblical doctrine that did not exist in original New Testament Christianity.

Instead, Mormons believe that all people will go through the tribulations of the last days. At the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, those who have died will be resurrected, and all people will be judged. The righteous (regardless of their religion) will remain on the earth for the Millennium (a thousand year reign of Jesus Christ), while the wicked will be removed from the earth and endure a thousand years of torment. Following the Millennium, there will be a final judgment in which people are assigned their eternal reward (or punishment).

A:

The 'Rapture' is a theological invention of John Nelson Darby, the nineteenth-century founder of the Plymouth Brethren. Barbara R. Rossing (The Rapture Exposed) says that Darby's new teaching was that Christ would return twice, first in secret to "Rapture" his church out of the world and up to heaven, then a second time after seven years of global tribulation for non-believers, to establish a Jerusalem-based kingdom on earth. The Church of Christ says that this is false theology, but there are undoubtedly some members who would believe it. Either way, the Rapture has no genuine biblical support, so there is no good reason to believe there will ever be a Rapture.

I think first we should get the definition: Some faithful Christians will be bodily caught up from the earth, suddenly taken out of the world, to be united with the Lord "in the air." Based on The Bible the word " rapture" does not occur in the Holy Bible.

Let's look at a scripture at ( 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18) When the Apostle Paul said that Christians would be " caught up" to be with the Lord, what subject was being discussed? When you read those verses Paul was saying that some members of the Christian Congregation in Thessalonica had died, and he encouraged the survivors to comfort one another with the resurrection hope. He reminded them that Jesus was resurrected after his death; so, too, at the coming of the Lord, those faithful Christians among them who had died would be raised to be with Christ.

Also verses 15 of the same book of the bible explains that they are faithful ones " who are left until the coming of the Lord," that is they are still living at the time of Christ's coming. Will they ever die? According to Romans 6:3-5 and 1 Corinthians 15:35,36,44 we read they must die before they can gain heavenly life. But there is no need for them to remain in the death like state awaiting Christ's return. They will instantly be " caught up," in the twinkling of an eye," to be with the Lord.

1 Corinthians 15:51,52 also read Revelation 14:13.
