Not where I live in Ohio. My mother co-signed a car for me, and her name didnt have to be on the insurance, as long as the vehicle carried full coverage insurance in my name.

Can you drive a car which has no insurance policy but you have a insurance policy on another car?

Depends on the state and your insurance policy. call your local agent.

If I am uninsured and I want to drive my farther insured car can I still drive it legally?

It depends on our father's insurance. My children may drive my car because my insurance covers anyone I give permission to drive my car (they have have a valid license). However, my ex-wife's policy does not allow it - by not having this option she actually lowers her premium. This can vary from state to state and insurance policy to insurance policy. Have your father call his agent and get the correct answer for his policy. He may have to make an adjustment to his policy to allow you to drive his car.

If you drive a car with no insurance are you legally intitled to drive it on your car insurance?

That depends, because there are many different insurance coverages. You'll need to check your own car insurance policy and see if it covers you AND any car that you are driving. If you can't find that information anywhere in the policy then check with your insurance broker and ask. Sorry, but without actually reading YOUR policy that's the best answer I can give.

Can you drive your mother's car if you are not on her insurance policy?

yes

Is it legal to drive a car that is not insured on your insurance?

It is illegal to drive a car that is not insured for at least third party cover (i.e. if you hit someone then they - but not you - will get paid out). Therefore if the car is not covered on an insurance policy that YOU have then to drive it you would need to be covered on someone else's insurance. Some people hold insurance policies that allow anyone (with permission from the owner) with a valid license to drive the car and in this case you would b covered on this policy - many company cars have this sort of policy. It is you DUTY to make sure that you/the car has as covering policy before you drive it and that you can PRODUCE this policy for the police should they require you to do so.

Can I have Auto insurance without a car?

Ask an insurance company for a "broadform" policy. That will cover you for any car you drive. Yes, although it's rather pointless. Why pay for insurance on something that you don't even have or own ... there is no need. If you drive someone else's car, you are covered under their insurance policy, provided you have their permission to drive it.

If you have insurance on your car can someone else drive it?

It depends on the policy in the USA. In most European countries only named drivers can drive a car regardless of insurance policy - rental cars are the exception for obvious reasons.

If your husband has his own insurance for his vehicle and you exclude him the insurance on your car will he be covered by his insurance if he was driving your car and had an accident?

You have to list the drivers covered to drive your car on the policy. If not he is not covered.

If you drive a car insured by your grandfather but you have a separate policy and you crash who has to pay you or your grandfather?

Ask your respective insurance agents. You may have a policy that covers you no matter what car you drive.

Can you drive a car your daughter has just purchased if you have your own insurance?

Yes, at least in Mass the insurance coverage goes with the driver and not with the car. However, if you and daughter live together, you must both be on the policy to be covered in the car that has the insurance policy.

You do not own a car can you get a policy to drive other peoples cars?

You do not need your own policy. In most states you are covered by the car owners insurance policy.

Could you get car insurance with no car?

Not without insurable interest in a car. If you do not have a car, you do not need to have insurance. If you rent a car, you can get insurance for the rental, but that is a temporary policy. If you have permission to drive the car, you should be insured under the policy of the person from whom you borrowed the car.

Can you cancel your car insurance policy?

You sure can cancel your insurance policy BUT you might not want to. In our state insurance is required to drive a car or truck and you can be fined and lose you drivers license if your caught driving without insurance. I would question the wisdom of cancelling your insurance

What is a non owner's insurance policy and where can you obtain one?

A non-owner's insurance policy basically enables someone to get insurance so they can get a license or for any other purpose they need to get auto insurance without owning a car. It covers you in any car that you drive, even if you do not own the car. It is basically a general insurance for drivers because some people who drive do not own cars.

Does your insurance cover a borrowed friends car without insurance?

If you are driving the car it may cover you, but it won't cover a car unless it is on your policy. Depending on your policy it may not cover you either. Some insurance policies don't cover you if you allow another driver other than yourself to drive your car. Check your policy.

Does insurance follow the car or the person?

Depends on the insurance policy. A good one will cover both, as long as the driver has permission to drive the car, and the policy owner can cover a rental or a new vehicle.

What does it mean when you say permission to drive the car Should the driver's name be included in the insurance policy?

The drivers name must be on the policy in order to drive the car. Permission should be given with extreme caution. If the friend wrecks the car, your insurance could call that irresponsible and drop coverage.

If you have your own auto insurance policy for a different car will you be covered if you drive a car not on your policy?

If the vehicle not listed on the policy is a new car that you have recently purchased, you generally have 30 to notify your insurance company of the change. If the vehicle you are driving is just a friends car then, no. Insurance is primary to the vehicle and it is important that the owner of the car have insurance on it and that any drivers of the car be listed as covered on their policy. There are exceptions to everything and these rules will vary by company. It's best to check directly with your insurance company for questions like this.

Can you drive a mans car without permission from his spouse?

I would not drive a man's car if his wife said I couldn't no matter what. Legally, the person who is the policyholder on the insurance and the owner of the vehicle has to give you permission to drive. If you drive it on a regular basis, you must be listed as a driver on the insurance policy. If you drive the car without permission, and have an accident, you will not have coverage under the insurance policy.
