Maybe a bad head gasket. When cold, take the radiator cap off and start the engine. If it is a head gasket, water should shoot out of the radiator.
Did you check the thermostat to make sure it is working? If it is and you have enough coolant, you might want to check for head gasket issue. You can rent a tester at Autozone. HTH
I have 292,000 and have only replaced the head gasket, transmission from the junk yard & a time gear set all of which were a result of poor maintenance on my part.
It is between the upper and lower intake manifold. The gasket is an o-ring type.
