no because by that time you have already completed most of your ovulation cycle. the patch directions are written so that you wear it for 3 weeks and not the 4th week. the 4th week is so that you have your normal monthly period. if you wanted to continue to wear the patches for the 4th week i dont know if you would have your period or not. i myself have never tried it. I know that if you continue to wear the patch, skipping your off week and just putting a new one on, rather than takng it off it will stop you from having your period that week. But i do not know if wearing it for 3 extra days would do that. Only thing I know is that if you skip your 4th cycle and put a new patch on, your period will last longer. Trust me from experience.
It's safe to delay your period occasionally this way, but you should continue wearing the patch for the amount of time you normally would. In other words, if you usually wear it three weeks and then leave it off a week, this time you should wear it for the first three weeks, then immediately begin again, wearing it for three weeks, then off one. What you shouldn't do is stop in the middle, wearing it for two weeks then stopping; that would put you at risk for pregnancy.
You may have some bleeding during the fourth week, or you may skip your withdrawal bleed altogether. You may have breakthrough bleeding in the next cycle. You do not increase your risk of pregnancy, though; in fact, your risk of pregnancy may be lower.
