Unavoidable in certain situations. Light fixtures are sometimes mounted in the ceiling - the bulb must then be mounted base up or base horizontal.

What is a circuit that lights up even if one bulb is out?

A parallel circuit lights up even when one bulb is out.

Why will the bulb not light up in a short circuit?

That's because the path of the short circuit provides a much lower resistance than the actual path and which the current will choose to flow through the path with a lower resistance rather than the path connected to a bulb, which explains that why the bulb won't light up.

Why does Fluorescent bulb not light and end turns black?

In order to know why fluorescent bulbs turn black at the end, you need to understand how they work. Basically, when you turn on the lighht switch, the ballast sends a spark through the mercury-vapor-filled tube or bulb, depending on design. When it does this, it creates light by activating phosphors that coat the inside of the tube. Well each time the ballast fires, it creates emissions. These emissins materials then settle on the surface inside the glass. After awhile this material piles up. When it does this, the tube end turns completely black. Not only does the tube end turn black, but the accumulated materials pile up so high that it blocks the electrons that flow into the mercury. When this happens, you will notice the bulb or tube flicker heavily and then burn out.

What is filament coil?

it is the coiled wire that heats up and gives off light in a incandescent (ordinary) light bulb.

What is the part of the light bulb that glows?

In an incandescent lamp, it is called a filament. It is usually made out of Tungsten. The resistance in the filament causes it to heat up, and then glow. In a neon lamp it is plasma, which is an ionized gas. In a fluorescent bulb mercury vapor is ionized to produce UV radiation, that hits the phosphor coating on the outside of the bulb and that glows.

What simple machines make up the base of a light bulb?

The simple machine that makes up the base of a light-bulb is just a screw. That screw allows you to insert the light-bulb into the base of a lamp. You must make sure to get the grooves of the screw lined up to properly tighten the bulb into place.

Replace headlamp on Nissan Xterra?

Open the hood and look at the back of the headlight housing. Lift the wire clip up and back (toward the engine) to release the bulb assembly. Remove the wiring harness from the base of the bulb and plug in the new one. DO NOT TOUCH THE BULB with your finger as it will cause it to burn out quickly.

Why is the bulb evacuated?

If they were not evacuated of all outside air, the filament will burn up in seconds because the air Will cause Resistance, thus the filament will burn brighter and brigther tyring to burn off the air until it opens. (blown bulb)...

How do you change the bulb in a lava lamp?

Remove the lava lamp by lifting up the glass. It separates from the base because it just sits in it. Unscrew the old bulb and screw another one in. When you remove the bulb you will notice that the bulb and base may not be the size of a standard household bulb. On the inside of the base, or the bottom of the base, there should be information about the type and wattage of the bulb. You need to get the same type of bulb to insure that the bulb base will screw into the socket. The wrong type bulb may not fit in the socket or the bulb may be too large and the top of the lamp will not fit properly on the base. If you get the wrong wattage, the bulb may not be hot enough or to hit to make the bulb function properly.

Does a light bulb have vacuum in it?

Yes, the inside of a light bulb is vaccum sealed to increase the lifespan and brightness of the bulb. If there was air in there, the filiment would burn up and not last very long. This was an important discovery made by Thomas Edison when he invented the light bulb.
