If you're pregnant the doctor tells you to drink A LOT of water! So it shouldn't affect the results at all. Plus it's water and that is the healthiest thing for you! Yes it will. True enough you are to drink plenty of water, however when taking a pregnancy test, to much water dilutes the urine.

∙ 13y agoWhat are they testing for? This could be different depending on the facility you are having the testing completed at. If you are just going in for testing of a UTI then drinking water will not affect the test. If you are having a drug test, then too much water can "alter" the testing some, depending on what substance they are checking for.

∙ 8y agoIt may help psychologically or in a 'placebo' sense, but drinking water moments before giving a sample can't possibly have an actual effect on your urine volume. That said, the psychological effect may indeed be real for you, and if doing so helps you give an adequate sample, then keep doing it.
