∙ 13y agoJupiter, the Roman god of gods, would like to give away three magnificent gifts--a Trumpet, a golden lyre, and a golden crown of laurels--all fashioned by Vulcan--to a mortal who has contributed the most to literature. Juno recommends that Homer the author of Iliad, to receive them. Venus, on the other hand, would like Virgil the author of Aedes, to have the prizes instead. Minerva (i.e., Pallas) believes that Cervantes the author of Don Quixote, should be the one to receive the prizes. Other gods were disagreeing with each other and were about to fight when Jupiter decides that Justice (a goddess not in the original Roman pantheron, but introduced by Jose Rizal in his play) weigh them impartially in her balance. The Iliad was weighed against the Aedes and the two were found equal! The Quixote was likewise found equal with the Iliad. So Jupiter decides to give the trumpet to Homer, the lyre to Virgil, and the crown of laurels to Cervantes.
