Engine fail safe mode on a Jaguar S-Type is a minimized running mode designed to allow the engine to run when problems are present. It helps with diagnostics and allows the vehicle to be driven for short distances.

Failsafe engine mode
can you get failsafe mode on a s type jag manual can you get failsafe mode on a s type jag manual
ETC engine failsafe mode means that the rotations per minute of the engine are being limited. This is also known as limp mode.
it is very common the fail safe mode light comes on a s type. go to the auto part store and get you some electronic spray cleaner and go under the steering wheel where the brake pedal is and unplug the connecter for the brake pedal switch. then spray cleaner on both ends of the connectors and dont worry the cleaner evaporates fast so then connect back together and that will solve your problem.
It means the computer has dropped into failsafe mode (fuel /air /timing) parameters because there is a problem, get the codes read to see what the problem is (you prob have an engine light as well)
I am not sure of the cause, but the Failsafe Engine Mode has been a recurring problem in my 2005 Mustang for about two years and over 40000 miles now. At first it occurred intermittently but then developed into a frequent occurrence. The check engine light may or may come on at the same time. When going into Failsafe Engine Mode, th 'Failsafe Engine Mode' wording appears on the dash where the odometer is. Upon taking it to the shop when the problem first started to frequently occur, the fault code indicated the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) so I had that replaced but the problem immediately reappeared. Reprogramming ('reflashing') the computer helped for a number of months but then the problem appeared again, at first intermittently but again developing more frequently. When Failsafe Engine Mode occurs, the engine loses much of its power - I am not sure if it is true but I have read this is due to deactivation of some of the cylinders. My vehicle is a 6 cylinder. I do appear to get slightly better gas mileage while in Failsafe Engine Mode according to the on board computer (you can not access any information on the odometer / information display while in Failsafe Engine Mode but turning the engine off and restarting the car will reset the computer and it is at that time that I have frequently noticed my gas mileage has increased, thus perhaps it is true that some cylinder deactivation occurs while in this mode). I hope I can find a fix soon - I am at this time getting ready to take the vehicle back to the shop for another try at fixing it. I am writing this response while not signed in but if you would like a photo of the Failsafe Engine Mode displayed on the dash you can e-mail me at topojijo302@yahoo.com. Craig
The car will have to be taken out of failsafe mode to get it to start. The specific way to troubleshoot the problem will vary between brands.
what does fail safe engine mode mean on a 2000 jaguar s type? how to fix this problem?handle
I believe you have lost your engine coolant , so whatever repairs are required to fix the problem
Fail safe mode on a Ford vehicle is a limited function mode which allows the computer to guess at the operating state of the engine. It usually switches to this mode when a sensor stops functioning and updating the computer.
I believe that indicates your engine coolant level is low or you have lost your coolant
