As a first guess I'd suggest that you're getting a little "cylinder washdown", meaning that an injector or the carb is allowing too much fuel into one or more cylinders and it's picking up some of the oil.
That can be caused by a carb with a sticking float that allows fuel to dump into the intake after you turn off the engine... assuming that it's a carburated engine.
OR
an injector that's leaking a little and when you turn off the engine it's allowing the fuel to leak in much the same way.
It could be other things as well but this is a more likely cause and certainly a good place to start.
could be valve seals. oil left in the heads when engine is shut down gets by the seals when engine is stopped ,and leaks into cylinders. this is ONE thing that could cause it, I'm sure there are other causes, that are possible.
That would require fixing / replaceing the VALVE SEALS in the heads.
Need more info such as the year, engine size and what color smoke.
sounds like the valve seals are leaking oil into the cylinders when engine is stopped not a big deal for a car that age
the valve stem seals are probably dried up and leaking when engine is at rest
Worn valve guides? New answer : Worn valve guides WILL cause some what of a rough idle and engine would smoke at all times. If engine smokes at start up only and then quites then your problem would be the VALVE SEALS.
blown piston rings or valves in the cylinder head not seating properly
valve seals and or guides bad
You are probably leaking some kind of fluid on either your exhaust or your block. If i were you i would clean your engine really well then start it up and look for the wet spot. That will tell you what is leaking.
Is this a trick question?? This is wat i sound lik: "why does my cars EXHAUST smell like EXHAUS?its also SMOKES at START UP... Ima leave that as that
If the engine is four-cycle, the valve seals may be worn, causing a small amount of oil to seep into the piston cylinder or combustion chamber. If it is two-cycle, the oil/fuel mix may have a little too much oil.
we have 1993 acura legend it hard up it 4 to 5 times to start up when it start it will start up e.z i mean when engine warm up any body have any idea ?
valve seals ,I just had my replaced it was 400 dollars with parts and labor. They let the oil drip down into the cylinder when the motor sits for a little while .
