∙ 9y agoPassive transport is like diffusion in that particles move across the concentration gradient (from high concentration to low concentration), but active transport it is the movement of particles against the concentration gradient (from low concentration to high concentration).
In the passive transport energy is not needed, but in active transport energy is needed.

∙ 14y agoPassive transport is a type of diffusion in which no energy is required for it to occur. A common example includes osmosis. On the other hand, active transport does require energy for diffusion to occur. An example includes the diffusion of Cl- ions.
