Explain the use of drop down list?
Asked in Keyboarding
Which key is used to select more than one item in a drop-down list?
Asked in Microsoft Excel
How can I create a drop-down item list and when I select an item I want to display its cost in the next cell according to a set range of values?
Create your list on your worksheet away from where you want the results. Include the values (cost) in the next column. In the cell where you want the drop down list click data/validation and under 'allow' select list. Under 'source' highlight the range that contains your item list (do not include the values). Click OK. When you select the cell you will now have the drop-down item list that you want. In the next cell you can use the VLOOKUP function to find the item chosen from the drop down list and return the cost eg =VLOOKUP(A1,F1:G10,2) assumes your drop down list is in A1, the item list is in the range F1:F10 and the cost is in G1:G10 Hope this helps Al

What is a drop down menu and how would you use it?
A drop-down or pull-down menu is something in software where if you hover over an item or click it, it will open up and give you more options. A typical use for something like this is if you are buying something online with a credit card. If you click on a box that says "Card Type" you will get a list "drop down" with the list of common credit cards, and you just pick one. Similarly, when you get to the credit card expiry date, if you click on the date drop-down menu, a bunch of years will open up and you just click on the year your card expires. Or you can just go up to File or Tools on your web browser and click on them and a bunch of options will drop down. Phil

How do you create a drop down list of content for your webpage?
What is a dropdown menu and how do you use it?
A drop down menu is a feature of most operating systems and many websites. It consists of a word (sometimes in a box) that, when clicked, produces a list of choices that "drop down" from the original choice. On websites, there is often a downwards-pointing arrow next to it to let you know it is a drop down menu. Note that, if screen space is limited, many operating systems will have the resulting menu shoot upwards instead. This is still a "drop down" menu! To use a drop down menu, click the word or box or arrow and select an option. For instance, in your web browser, in the top right you should see the word "File". Click that and a menu will drop down. If you select the last option - "Exit" or "Close" - the web browser will quit.

How can you put a drop down list on an Excel spreadsheet?
Use the Data Validation tool. For Excel 2007: In a column, make a list of the items you want in the drop-down box. Give the list range a name or just identify the range (e.g. A1:A23). Click on the cell or range where you would like to make the drop-down box. From the Data tab on the ribbon bar, in the Data Tools section, select Data Validation. From the Data Validation window, on the Settings tab observe Validation criteria section. In the Allow: dropdown, select list. You will observe a new field for Source. In the Source: box, enter your list range by whatever method you like (e.g. =A1:A23). If you like, you can make entries on the Input Message and Error Alert tabs. Click OK. Observe in the drop-down arrowhead in the cell or range you highlighted, the list you identified.

How do you make a drop down list in excel whose list entries depends on a particular entry in another cell?
Why in the Properties window do you change some properties with a drop-down list or a dialog box while you change others by typing a value?
It depends on the programmer. However, in general, where a property has a finite set of values you will be given a drop down box, but some, such as comments, cannot provide a drop down so you get a text box instead. Some also provide a drop down as well as a text box, such as a date picker where you can either type a date in full or simply select it from a calendar-like drop down. Numeric values can also be entered manually but many numeric inputs also use "tumblers" to increment/decrement the current value.

Asked in Guitars
How do you drop your regular tuned guitar to drop c?
Drop C is a variation on Drop D - For Drop D you tune the low E down two steps to D, with the rest at standard pitch for Drop C you tune all strings down Two steps then tune the low string down another two steps. This sounds awful with standard strings as there is not enough tension on them so use 011's or 012's
