What causes mini strokes?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

With my limited knowledge (both parents had TIA's and I work in the medical field), there are numerous things that can cause TIA's. When my father had his first one, they said it was a combination of a lack of Vitamin B-12 and the fact that his carotid artery has a 70% plaque build up. When my mother had hers a few months ago, they don't really know. The plaque build up that she has is not enough to cause the stroke (per her cardiologist) but the ran all kinds of tests and have decided that even though she has minimal plaque build up that are going to go ahead and do what my parents loving call the "roter-rooter" surgery. If you have a medical dictionary (or you can go to webMD, or just google TIA's) you can look up the technical description.

How do you get rid of a staph infection on my back?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A staph infection is a very dangerous thing to be trying to deal with on your own. It's very contagious and spreads like wildfire. You need antibiotics. Keep the wound covered and disinfect any items that come in contact with your back. I do know of a old wife's rememdy that might help until you can go to the dr but no guarantees. You take the inside lining of a raw egg, it's the skin on the inside of the shell. You put it slimey side down on the infected site and put a bandage over it. When the lining dries it pulls out the infection. You must wash this area with alcohol several times a day. As I said this is a old wife's rememdy. Honestly I would go to the dr. Staph can kill you. Take care hope you get well soon.

Yes, if you can show the hospital or its staff were negligent in taking reasonable precautions to prevent the infection. You would also have to show that the infection was acquired at the hospital, or as a result of something the hospital had done or failed to do.

Does staph infection cause hives?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

a staph infection may itch at first. It will usually change within two days to a painful sore with pus present. For many people this time period is less, especially if they scratch, but you should absolutely not scratch. This can cause the infection to spread to other areas of the skin or even become systemic which could mean a hospital trip.

Could staph infection cause you to be delirious?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A STAPH (short for STAPHYLOCOCCUS) infection can be a serious bacterial infection. It can make you feel groggy and tired. You need to follow Doctors instructions and take ALL of your antibiotics. You also need to take it easy, get rest, plenty of fluids and let your body heal it self. Some people stop taking their antibiotics when they feel better, but that is a MISTAKE. Take all meds as directed, take it as directed, rest, and do not resume activity until you are 100%.

Should a person with staph infection work in the food industry?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Depends on the severity of the infection, but personally I would say no. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a strain of staph bacteria that does not respond to some antibiotics that are commonly used to treat staph infections.

Follow these steps to avoid MRS infections and prevent it from spreading:

  • Keep your hands clean by washing them thoroughly with soap and water or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Keep cuts and scrapes clean and covered with a bandage until they heal.
  • Avoid contact with other people's wounds or bandages.
  • Avoid sharing personal items such as towels or razors.

Is there an over the counter medicine for a staph infection on your dog?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The BEST answer is to ask your vet, but my GF who is in vet school, and works at a vet clinic says that Cephalexin is pretty decent at treating bacteria related infections.

PLEASE do NOT take this as THE BEST answer ... only your VET knows that. Each case is different .. which is why only your VET could know. This is only a vaguely "generalized" answer.

I have had infections and found that his has brought on flare ups in my RA. this is of coarse only a single persons observation. I would suggest that you have the infection seen to as quickly as possible and have him checked out for arthritis. Especially RA as this can turn into a serious problem if left untreated.
