This really depends on the size of the appetites of your 'hamburger gobblers'. The standard seems to be 1/4 pound per patty, but teenagers (especially young men) may prefer 1/3 pound, while us 'professionals' prefer 1/2 pound per patty. (I'd like two, please...)

Asked by Wiki User

A serving of hard liquor is one ounce. Some crackers or chips consider 1 ounce to be a serving. Butter is served in 1/3 ounce servings so there would be three in one ounce. Only very high calorie foods have serving sizes small enough to be 1 ounce or less like mayonaisse, olive oil, butter, sour cream, etc.

How is there only 290 calories in a Dunkin' Donuts apple fritter what is the serving size?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The short answer is... it depends. There is considerable variety based on brand, size of fritter, etc. Some examples might help, though.

Starbucks Apple Fritter: An astonishing 790 Calories, including 37 g of fat

Dunkin' Donuts Apple Fritter: "Only" 290 Calories, with 13 g of fat

It seems that the "average" fritter is more in line with Dunkin' Donuts than with Starbucks. Having said that, if your fritter requires both hands to hold it because it's so big, or if it tastes *really* good... you might want to consider it closer to the Starbucks standard. ;o)

I found this on a "How Much Are You Eating" website. It says that apporximately 1/2 cup of spaghetti sauce is equal to one serving. Although, it's just ONE website so far that said that, so there's a chance it could be incorrect. But it's the only website I could find that could tell me.
