Generally, they are fairly small, just enough room for a bed and desk for each person. You can probably get dimensions from the housing department of the university you plan to attend.
Justice Residence Hall. It's right next to the stadium and is across from Coletrane.
Dorm comes from the Greek and Latin roots meaning 'sleep'.
The word originated in the mid-15th century from the Latin word dormitorium which is commonly know here in North America as the bedroom. It has since moved to also denote a communal arrangement.
The word dormi means: sleep. The literal translation is "sleep room". So technically any "room" or space used for the purposes of "sleeping" can be called a dormitory.
The room you use to sleep in your home, in an institution, fraternity house, passenger ship also qualify as a dormitory.
If you wish to buy an authentic dorm room bed, you can contact the surplus goods clearance department from any college or university. They often clear out old furniture at low prices and will sell the beds as well.

Every residence hall creates many of their own "rules" which are enforced by the hall director and resident assistants.
It depends on the college. Many private colleges charge between 3,000 and 7,000 dollars a year for room and board. Public universities tend to charge less. (1,500 to 2,500) Multiply the number by 4 and the costs will be around 6,000 to 28,000 for four years of college. This does not include any other costs such as tuition and textbooks.
you move out of the dorms by saving up enough money and buy a castle from the castle shop in the market district and moving into your brand new warm home [take your furniture lol]

In the Harry Potter series, the four dorms that one can be put into are more commonly referred to as "houses". These houses are:
Gryffindor (where dwell the brave at heart),
Slytherin (for those of a cunning/often mean character),
Hufflepuff (loyal, honest friends), and
Ravenclaw (where thos with the sharpest minds stay).
During the school year, the students of Hogwarts stay in the house they have been assigned to by the sorting hat, based on their personality.
No. I was originally told that every freshman has to live on campus, but once I got here, I found out that a lot of students live in apartments. The good thing about living in an apartment is that you can have a car during your freshman year. In the dorms, you can only have a car if you have a specific reason such as working at home or student teaching. Living in dorms for your first year can be beneficial because you get to meet a lot of people, and the dorms are really close to campus and all the food courts. Plus you get a lot of free things while living in the dorms. Every week, we got some sort of free food and there are ALWAYS event going on. I suggest to pick a dorm other than Meredith and Cary. They are very tiny... 17' by 9'. Living in a dorm such as Harrison or Cary gives you a lot more room. However you have to walk an extra 5 minutes for those dorms.
