Roald Dahl was in a car accident in New York City. He was hit by a taxi while crossing the street, resulting in serious injuries to his spine.
In some cases, coffins are nailed shut for safety and security reasons to ensure the body stays intact during transportation and burial. This practice is not uncommon, even in cases where the cause of death is not related to the need for containment.
Jessica Savitch was a female news anchor who died in a car accident in 1983. She was a prominent television journalist known for her work on NBC News.
The accident occured the night of the Oak Hills High School homecoming dance, October 21, 1972. The location of the accident was the intersection of Taylor and Rybolt roads in Green Township, Cincinnati, OH. A car carrying six Oak Hills students was westbound on Taylor Rd. when a vehicle heading southbound on Rybolt Rd. at a high rate of speed became airborne cresting a hill on Rybolt and landed virtually on top of the student's car. Five of the six occupants were killed. Their names: Deborah Lyn Eckert, Cindy Jane Kreuzman, Kim Marie Wullenweber, Alan Surnbrock and Linda Diane May. It should be noted that the driver and passenger of the "airborne" vehicle both survived the accident. Both were determined to be legally intoxicated, having purchased alcoholic beverages using illicit identification. The outcome of this incident led indirectly to the initiation of the use of Photo Identification on all Ohio driver's licenses. A memorial fountain was erected the following year in a courtyard at Oak Hills High School dedicated to the memory of the five accident victims.
NO, IT DEPENDS ON THE SPEED AND TYPE OF VEHICLES INVOLVED IN THE ACCIDENT, AND WEATHER OR NOT PEOPLE ARE WEARING SEAT BELTS
You eventually die from bad luck that's now stuck to you and will never go away. RIP
in the united states, about 1200 injury causing wrecks PER DAY due to an avoidable distraction. 20% of those wrecks are due to distraction by cell phone usage, which means 448,000 wrecks due to an avoidable distraction over the course of the year. 89,600 of those wrecks were due to a cell phone; 5,474 deaths last year (2009) due to an avoidable distraction and 995 of those deaths were due to cell phones. These numbers keep rising each year. So this answer will need to be updated continuously.
In order to answer this question more accurately i would need to know what time frame you would like to see the death / injury poll from texting and driving.
Even one is too many ! If you're driving a car you have no business using a mobile phone !! There should be a GLOBAL BAN on using a mobile while driving. You either drive the car or use the phone - not both !
There should be much stiffer penalties for anyone causing an accident while texting. Here in the UK - offences range from 'driving without due care and attention' to 'causing death by dangerous driving'. Pesonally I'd like to see anyone killing a person because they were texting while driving, charged with at least manslaughter !
Texting while driving appears to be at least as dangerous as driving while highly intoxicated.
Just let them know that you are there for them anytime they need moral and/or emotional support. If you want to make the letter a long one, then you can include things you've been through that may be similar to what that person is going through. Not only will this give you more to write, but it will also let them know that you really do understand that kind of emotional pain.
But you should also try to include some things to try to cheer up the heartsick person. You can tell them about something funny you saw in a movie, some amusing things that your children, nieces/nephews, friend's children, etc. did, or something funny that happened or that was said at work. If you have pets, you can write about their latest antics, as well.
You can also include the normal, mundane things of everyday life, even things that angered you, such as a neighbor driving over your trash can or stealing your newspaper. Any thing you write will help the person get their mind off their pain, even if only for a short while.
Because it reduces the amount of available time needed to avoid a crash, increases the likelihood of crashing and increases the severity of a crash once it occurs
u stay in the car and not flat on the windscreen

Hey this is Mariela and just to let you know, about 3,490 drivers aged around 15-20 have died in car crashes in 2006.That's ALOT.
It takes longer for an impaired driver to process what is happening.
Nope . . . not even close. In high income societies like the US, the top killers are heart disease, stroke, lung diseases, and Alzheimer's. Road deaths are not in the top 10 causes of deaths.
