Why do i get dry throat after drinking green tea?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

All tea made from the camellia sinensis plant (which is most types, including white, green and black, but not red or "herbal" teas) contains caffeine. The content is about 1/16-1/4 as much as a cup of coffee depending on the type and brewing strength. If you are unaccustomed to caffeine or are drinking it on an empty stomach, the caffeine and other chemicals absorbing into your bloodstream quickly may cause a jump in heart rate and blood pressure, which can make you feel shaky and nauseus. This is the most likely reason.

Tea is also a diuretic, which means it causes your kidneys to generate more water. While this can often be good medicinally, you must keep an eye on your fluids level and vitamin/mineral intake. Mild dehydration, salt imbalances and vitamin deficiencies can also make you nauseus.

Lastly, many types of tea are acidic. Anytime you upset the acidity level of your stomach you may experience nausea.

All of these reasons also apply to coffee, which contains caffine, is a diuretic and is acidic.

If tea makes you feel a little queasy, the best thing to do is moderate your intake, and drink it only with food. Remember that if you feel severely sick, have difficulty breathing, skin flushing or other sudden and severe syptoms, you may be allergic or having a bad reaction due to medications you are taking, and you need to seek medical attention immediately.

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There is less caffeine in green tea than in black teas. While tea itself (without sweetener of course), has no calories to speak of, any caffeinated product may increase your appetite, which can, in the long run add to a weight dilemma On the average, I would say not to worry too much about this being a big contributor to weight gain

Does green tea hurt your teeth?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

=Too much is supposed to be hard on the kidneys and some teas still contain caffeine however, too much of anything can be bad. Prefer the Japanese long leaf green tea, because it has a really nice flavor. Some green teas can be quite bitter. It's supposed to be good for hypertension and high cholesterol. As for weight loss, I haven't seen it do that. Tea is a diuretic according to a herbal book. Green tea boosts your metabolism.......that is a known fact. Take about 6 tablespoons of loose green tea and place it in a 1/2 gallon container. Fill container with COLD water. Let it set in your refrigerator for at least 24 hours (more is better). Strain and enjoy. Avoid cheap loose green tea. But there is no suggestions for healthy gums by drinking green tea. Just keep brushing and flossing those teeth!=

There are so many people who drink tea with sugar. In the grander scale of the tea industry additives like sugar and milk are recent developments. Tea farmers and crafters have transformed tea from an unpleasant medicinal herb to a popular daily beverage, beloved all over the world.

So here a few reasons why you should drink tea without sugar:

Does green tea help plants grow?

User Avatar

Asked by Abbylovesrobpattinson

Green tea is a plants natural nitrogen as well as a medicine. Plants can be watered with green tea, but the mixture of the water and tea has to be right if not the plants will suffer from nitrogen burn and can cause a severe root rot. Based on my experience, I recommand to brew one tea in a gallon of water and use it for the plants. Use the water and fertilizer at the first watering and use the tea with the water on the second watering. Its best to pour atleast one cup of tea from the gallon mixture of the water and tea in to the plants food and water mixture, the plants will love that. Its a winning choice.

Does green tea raise hemoglobin?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Yes, it lowers non-heme iron, which is iron found in vegetables. Heme iron, iron found in meat, it generally unaffected by the tannis found in tea. If you eat meat or are not anemic, then you can drink all the tea you want. You can mitigate this effect by eating foods rich in Vitamin C, like fresh fruits and vegetables, with your meal, as they boost absorption of non-heme iron. You can also drink tea between, rather than with meals.

One common purpose of tea is that it acts as a perk, for example a person got drunk yesterday and got a bad hangover the next morning and realized he is late for work. Henceforth drinks some tea to perk or "awaken" himself.

Other people simply enjoy it as a hobby. Drinking tea is actually an art. Some old people practice the art of tea brewing in hope that time would pass faster.

Does green tea keeps you awake or calms you down?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Yes. Green tea contains a chemical called L-theanine, the active component found in green tea leaves. Theanine is a natural substance which is derived from the amino acid glutamate. Theanine enters the central nervous system where it lowers stress and anxiety. It elevates mood as well. In addition, Theanine works by increasing the activity of GABA, a neurotransmitter which helps to inhibit the nervous system, inducing a more relaxed and peaceful state. It also affects other brain neurotransmitters associated with mood such as dopamine and serotonin. The end result is a relaxed, calming effect in people who get high enough concentrations of it. I recomend drinking at least 2 cups of green tea moderately fast. Green tea can be a great alternative to relaxing drugs such as anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medications. Green tea contains some caffeine as well. Green tea is great to drink. It gives you energy and alertness while it gives you a calm, relaxing sensation and mood lift. It is also very beneficial to your health because it contains many antioxidants; even more than black tea.
