How do you write National Junior Honor Society essay?

The National Honor Society is a very prestigious club to be inducted into. In order to first be considered a student, usually high school junior but sometimes senior, must have a very high GPA OS 95.00 (weighted) or 3.9, depending on how your school does it. After this a student will receive an application in which extracurriculars, leadership, and volunteer service must be clearly documented proving that you are a very well rounded student with high potential. If you have a goal of getting into NHS I highly suggest you start building up your leadership abilities and extracurriculars soon so there will be no discrepancy come application time. Good luck!

It can differ chapter to chapter but the basics are the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Parliamentarian, and Historian.

The President is the leader. The VP helps the President. The Secretary is in charge of keeping notes of meetings/decisions, attendance, and the agenda. The Treasurer keeps track of collecting dues, fundraising and funds of the club. The Parliamentarian keeps track of the rules and makes sure the club itself and individual members don't violate these rules. And the Historian keeps track of what has happened with the club and takes pictures and such of events that NHS attends.

For your NJHS essay, you need to include how you show leadership, character, citizenship, how you are of service, and why you want to be involved in the NJHS. When I wrote mine, I had a problem of what to put, so I'll help you with each requirement. For leadership, you can include how you don't follow other people's bad influences, how you are a leader of things you participate in, such as school. For character, you should include how you are honest, respectful, and how have courtesy. For citizenship, it's basically what it says; how you are a good citizen. For service, you can write how you help your community, if you participate in fundraisers, anything helpful you do voluntarily. Remember, the NJHS is about helping out, so write why you would like to help out and you can put how you would like to increase your leadership skills and be of more service.

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

"The National Scholars Honor Society is a private and independent academic honors organization dedicated to encouraging, recognizing, and rewarding high academic achievement in all areas of study. The membership is composed of students and scholars from university, graduate, and professional programs. The National Scholars Honor Society is the only national honor society to adopt and function by an honor code. The National Scholars Honor Code cultivates honor and integrity in membership in a practical way, creating trust and an atmosphere of respect, which all scholars deserve, and should expect from any honor society. We strive to encourage and reward personal growth and development, placing a high value on students who possess a sense of civic responsibility and dedication to our nation's political process. The National Scholars Honor Society does not endorse any particular political views."

The Honor Code is an open invitation for applicants to demonstrate their honesty, integrity, and self-determination.

The Honor Code: "I will conduct my academic and personal affairs with the utmost integrity. I will honor myself, and the tenets of the National Honor Society."

Previous answer:

Well I have to admit that I am skeptical of them but I received a nifty embossed certificate with a letter saying that my membership fee had been waived because of my academic achievement. It may very well be a scam but I don't know why they would send me a pin, certificate and letter for free…

They also have their bylaws posted which is kind of good for a honor society.

Is it harder to get in National Honor Society depending on what high school you attend?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No, it shouldn't be. It is supposed to be based on your grades and your achievements, not what school you attend. According to their website, "The National Honor Society (NHS) and National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) are the nation's premier organizations established to recognize outstanding high school and middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NHS and NJHS serve to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character (and Citizenship for NJHS). These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since their beginnings in 1921 and 1929." I invite you to go to their website and learn more.
