If you run the 1600 and the 800 in track should you get distance shoes or mid-distance shoes?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

My school has an asphalt track and I use racing flats. They're as light as spikes but they are spikeless. I would recommend the Nike Mayfly. They're only 4 ounces but not very durable. The average "life span" of the shoe is 100km or 62 miles.

What is a good time for an average 18 year old boy in the 100m sprints?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Hey, interesting question.... well i run track (100m in 10.9ish, 400m in 48 secs , 800m in 1:50 and 1600m in 4:07. So, i would imagine the average time of the intire population at 18 years (male) would be somewere around 13.6-14.5. However, for a good 100 meter runner of 18 years, assuming non-competitive.. would be around 12.6-13.4. Hope i helped!

What are the best shoes for running on an all-weather track?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

well it depends on the type of event you want to do. if you are doing sprints then i would recommend using sprinting spikes which are super light weight and have only a very thin heel because you don't need to use your heel. but if you are doing longer running events like the 800, 1600, etc., i would use long distance spikes which are the same as sprinting spikes but with a thicker heel because you would run heel- toe

How do athletes prepare for a race?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

When preparing for a sports event it is important to keep in mind physical fitness, nutrition, sleep, and of course skill. Practice is important to maintain and improve skill, and they say you have to do something 10000 times before you actually know it and it becomes an instinct. It is important to figure out which muscles you need for your sport and to train all of your muscles but focus on those. Should you be training cardio (running) or for fast bursts of movement (for example with sprinting intervals). Make sure to warm up, cool down and stretch your muscles! It is important to monitor what you eat to be at your best, and research and eat properly both before and after a workout. After a workout it is important to eat some protein. Stay hydrated. You should be drinking water often all the time, but this is especially important in the week before the even. Sleeping well is important too and not to be neglected!

How fast should a 13 year old girl run the 800m?

User Avatar

Asked by AnAwesomeHumanBeing

Personally, I run my first lap a little easier, and start my kick with about 300 meters to go. When I was in 8th grade (I'm a girl) I could run mine in around 2:30ish. My coaches always told me that i went out too slow, so i would recommend not sprinting at the beginning, but running fairly hard.

What is the fastest time for 800 meters run by a 55-year-old man?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Sadly world records, and records in general are not kept by age. They simply record the "best" and "fastest" time by any individual of any age.

If you wanted to base your time in comparison to average ages though, that may prove beneficial. The average avid runner can run an 800 in 2:40-3:00 minutes. Any lower is just icing on the cake.
