Is rubbing alcohol safe for the environment?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Rubbing alcohol, also known as isopropyl alcohol, is generally considered safe for the environment when used appropriately and in moderation. It evaporates quickly and does not leave a residue, minimizing its impact on the environment. However, its safety can depend on the concentration of the alcohol and the specific application.

Research studies, such as those published in the journal "Environmental Science and Pollution Research," have explored the environmental fate and effects of isopropyl alcohol. These studies typically focus on concentrations and exposure levels relevant to industrial or large-scale usage rather than typical consumer use.

It's essential to note that while rubbing alcohol may be considered safe when used as intended, excessive or inappropriate use can have negative consequences. Improper disposal, such as pouring large quantities down the drain, can contribute to water pollution. Always follow product instructions and local regulations when using and disposing of rubbing alcohol or any chemical substance to minimize environmental impact.

Is Betamethasone Dipropionate safe during pregnancy?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Betamethasone and The pregnancy

Yes , Betamethasone can be taken in pregnancy, although it does cross the placenta to the baby. Other steroid tablets (like prednisolone) do not cross the placenta as much and may be better for pregnancy.

Talk to your doctor or specialist as soon as possible to see whether betamethasone is the right steroid to continue taking during pregnancy. Do not stop taking it before talking to your doctor.

Steroid tablets like betamethasone are commonly used in pregnancy and most doctors recommend continuing to take them if needed.

If they're not well treated, inflammatory conditions can affect your baby, causing premature birth and growth problems. It's recommended that you continue steroid treatment during pregnancy to keep yourself and your baby well.

Betamethasone and breastfeeding

If your doctor or health visitor says that your baby is healthy it's usually OK to take betamethasone tablets while you're breastfeeding.

It is not known how much betamethasone gets into breast milk, but it's likely to be a small amount. If you're only taking betamethasone for a short time, your baby is unlikely to get any side effects. However, your baby may need extra monitoring if you take higher doses or if you're taking it for a long time.

If you notice that your baby is not feeding as well as usual, or is not putting on weight as you would expect, or if you have any other concerns about your baby, talk to your health visitor, midwife or doctor as soon as possible.

While tiredness is a sign of early pregnancy, the other signs are not. Possibly it would be best to seek a medical opinion. A pregnancy home test can be done as well. Absence of periods is often the first sign of pregnancy along with tiredness.

What foods should you avoid if you want to get pregnant?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

hi,

now i am not an expert, but i read alot about the subject for my pregnant friend who now has a beautiful healthy boy.

well, foods to be avoided are: anything containing raw eggs, like mayonaise, and Cesar dressing, canned tune, soft creamy cheese, smoked food for the amount of carbon in it.

drinks: cafinated drinks, alchoholic drinks.

also try avoiding faty foods, and sugary foods, cos a pregnant woman gains weight naturally, so stay healthy, and maintain a healthy diet, to avoid getting really fat.

i hope this helps, and good luck.

also read more about this on line, try a site named baby center:

www.babycenter.com

again, i am not speaking from experience, or an expert, i just read about this.

best thing to do is ask your doctor.

good luck again.

Can cat bites harm pregnant women?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Cat urine is not harmful to pregnant women or their unborn children. That is an old wives' tale. Cat urine contains ammonia, which means the fumes can be overpowering in a dirty litter box, but it will not harm you or your unborn child. The fact that it smells awful doesn't mean it'll hurt you.

Cat feces can carry a disease called toxoplasmosis, which can be harmful to pregnant women and their unborn babies. However, toxoplasmosis is a disease that only affects outdoor cats. If your cat is an indoors-only cat, you do not need to worry about toxoplasmosis.

Certain kinds of litters (specifically, the clay-based kind) contain toxins which are potentially harmful to humans. This is really only a problem when you pour the new litter in the box, or dig around in the box vigorously, as this releases a cloud of clay dust.

Instead of clay litter, try the crystal kind, such as Clear Choice Crystals or Fresh Magic. You can also try a corn-based litter like World's Best Cat Litter, but in my experience, the crystal litter is far superior. It lasts much longer, it controls odor better than any other litter, and there are no urine clumps to scoop. Instead, the urine is absorbed by the crystals, so you only have to scoop the poop. It also tracks much less (meaning, far less of it gets kicked out of the box onto the floor).

Is neosporin safe for cats?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I heard that it is---but there maybe some problems with the one that has the PAIN RELIEF in it (that if the cats lick the pain medication--it may hurt them)His noise started getting infected and it looked painful...But I put the NEOSPORIN with Pain medication on his noise without checking with anybody for 7 days--and he licked it--but it was such a small amount!!The neosporin Worked--it was wonderful!

The pain relieving ingredient is pramoxine hydrochloride, a drug used in numerous products for cats and dogs of the skin care, wound care, itch relief nature. It is absolutely safe to use Neosporin with pain relief for cats. I have used it with mine numerous times.

If you clean up dog urine or dog poop can it hurt your baby while you are pregnant?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I'm not sure about dogs but I know cats can cause birth defects. Call your doctor and vet!

*I've never heard anything about dog poop, but i have about cats, not the poop per say but the litter. It has something to do with whats in the litter not the poop. Another thing you should never ever handle when pregnant is rogain, that can cause birth defects for sure. I believe that you're looking for information on Toxoplasmosis is an infection that can threaten the health of an unborn child. It is caused by a parasite called Toxoplasma gondii. The parasite multiplies in the intestine of cats and is shed in cat feces, mainly into litter boxes and garden soil. You can get the parasite by handling cat litter or soil where there is cat feces. You can also get the parasite from eating undercooked meat (such as rare beef) from animals infected with the parasite. But just like the first poster said its always a good idea to talk to your family doctor.

Is it Okay to give cats cheese its?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Some cats are lactose intolerant and feeding any kind of milk base product except for milk made for them can cause gas, stomach pains as well as diarrhea. Feeding your cat cheese or milk is very irresponsible and dangerous seeing as cats can have allergies to it and be in a lot worse shape them just those common side effects if you want to give them milk soy milk or a brand called lactaid is the best. Don't hurt your cat if you don't need to. Lactaid also makes other things then just milk so look into it before just taking the easy way out. Hope this saves a lot of cats from those nasty side effects. Good luck!

How long should one wait before trying to get preg after a miscarriage?

User Avatar

Asked by Kimmurjean

It will depend on your own feelings and situations, you will know within yourselt when you feel the time is right. Go by your own instincts, don't feel pressured and listen to your own body signs, be true to yourself, don't rush, it takes time and patience to get back to 'normal'. Look after yourselt first and formost. Psychologically the above answer is absolutely correct. Physically you can get pregnant after two weeks, before your next period. Probably better to wait until after your next period so you have an accurate datefor calculating your due date. Surprisingly, many women have a baby very near the first anniversary of the miscarriage, so they are pregnant within 3 months.

Why do pregnant women waddle?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Perhaps their thighs keep rubbing together they have to waddle, it might be a natural body reaction to prevent inflammation.

Alternatively, their weight is too much for their muscles and bones and they waddle because it helps movement.

I have a friend who is overweight and is made fun of because of his waddling. When he waddles it is because of his thighs coming together and because his rear end is too big for his pants. He thinks he has his weight under control, but the waddling is still very consistent and unfortunately I have to talk to him about it because he is being laughed at.

What is the average heartbeat of a 6 week pregnancy?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Starting at week 5 the fetal heart will accelerate at a rate of 3.3 beats per day for the next month.

The fetal heart begins to beat at approximately the same rate as the mothers, which is 80 to 85 bpm. Below illustrates the approximate fetal heart rate for weeks 5 to 9, assuming a starting rate of 80

  • Week 5 starts at 80 and ends at 103 bpm

  • Week 6 starts at 103 and ends at 126 bpm

  • Week 7 starts at 126 and ends at 149 bpm

  • Week 8 starts at 149 and ends at 172 bpm

At week 9 the fetal heartbeat tends to beat within a range of 155 to 195 bpm.

The fetal heart rate will begin to decrease and generally will fall within the range of 120 to 160 bpm by week 12.
