How do you remove a door panel in a 95 jimmy?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

1. Remove the screw holding the door-open handle bezel, and remove the bezel. Unhook the power door lock switch (if equipped) and set the bezel aside.

2. Carefully remove the power window switch from it's bezzel. There are 4 small clips, 2 on each side of the switch. Once you remove the switch from the bezel, the bezzel can be gently pried out the top of the panel w/ a small screw driver from the front.

3. Starting at the front w/ a small screw driver, pry out (gently!) the trim inlay that's above the arm rest... it was wood-grained plastic on this model.

4. Use a #30 torq bit to remove the large screw towards the top of the opening where the trim inlay was.

5. Remove the 4 Philips head screws around the perimeter of the door panel.

6. Lift up on the door panel... you may have to shake it a bit.... and after moving upwards no more that an inch... the panel should come off.

How do you replace the thermostat on a 2000 GM jimmy?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Follow the upper radiator hose down to the engine. It attaches to the thermostat housing. Two bolts hold the housing on. There may be accessories, brackets, etc, that may have to be removed because they will be in the way. Remove the housing, lift out the old thermostat, remembering which way it came out, and replace with a new one. Newer vehicles now use seals instead of gaskets. Use no sealer when putting the housing back on.

Depends on the year, if it is a newer truck than the theft system will have to be relearned. turn the key on and let it sit for 10 minutes. on some vehicles this works, otherwise you need to have it done at a gm dealer.

How to adjust the Parking brake on a Trailblazer?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Underneath your vehicle, a steel threaded cable comes from the back of one hub and is joined by a short cable from the other hub--then the original cable runs to a threaded end with an adjuster nut in it--and one smaller nut on the end outside of that--(this is the equalizer bar)--you'll see it real close to your transmission.

You might have to jack-up the back of the vehicle???

Pull the parking brake lever up sharply and then release it. Pull the parking brake lever to the second click and leave it there. You're looking for a slight drag of the brake shoes when you spin the wheels. To increase the drag, get under at the equalizer bar and turn the adjusting nut to take up the slack in the cables. Get out and spin the rear wheels if you think it's to tight. I will say don't be afraid to crank on it for a while as in this case, a little adjustment really does not go a long way. When you think you have the drag right, go back in the car and pull the brake up the the fourth click. At this point the wheels should be locked and you should not be able to turn them even when trying hard. If you can, tighten them up a little more. Once you've done this, release the brake and make sure the wheels spin freely. If they are still binding due to the parking brake, back off the adjustment a little. And that's basically the whole adjustment procedure.

How do you replace the fuel filter on a 1998 GMC Jimmy?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If it is in the same place as my '93, it is below the driver door on the inside of the chassis. Take two crescent wrenches, or two open-ends (I think they are 14mm), one side will keep the filter from moving, the other will loosen the fuel line. CAREFUL! Once you open the line, gas will come out of the line! Then loosen the side closest to the tank, and pull the sucker out. Most environmentalists cringe when they see you dumping fuel into the gutter, so be careful where you dispose of it.

What is 2000 jimmy front end hum noise?

You need to check the front wheel bearings, while driveing down the road stright turn the steering to the left and then to the right and listen to see if the hum noise changes, if not then both bearings are bad left and right sides. If the hum noise changes while turning to the left then right front bearings are bad , if hum noise changes while weaven to the right then left bearings are bad.

How do I disengage my 4 wheel drive in a 99 gmc jimmy?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A REAL PROBLEM WITH S-15 AND S-10 GM'S WERE THE VACUUM SWITCH ON THE TRANSFER CASE...WHEN THEY FAIL, THEY CASUE THE 4X4 TO STAY ENGAGED. THEY ARE THE SIZE OF A D-CELL BATTERY AND HAVE THREE VACUUM LINES RUNNING INTO THEM. THEY CAN ONLY BE PURCHASED FROM A DEALER FOR ABOUT $45.00. YOU DO NOT WANT TO REPLACE IT WITH A USED UNIT AS IT WILL FAIL AGAIN. IF YOU NEED A QUICK FIX UNTIL YOU GET THE SWICH AND REPLACE IT, REMOVE THE BATTERY AND BATTERY TRAY, THE VACUUM MOTOR FOR THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL IS THERE. REMOVE THE 1/4 INCH VACUUM HOSE AND PLUG THE HISE. THIS WILL DISENGAGE YOUR 4X4 UNTIL YOU GET IT FIXED!

A SIMPLER QUICK TEMPORARY ANSWER, START BY SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL WITH THE ENGINE OFF. THE VACUUM PUMP SHOULD NOT BE OPERATING. WHILE THE IGNITION SWITCH IS TURNED ON AND THE ENGINE IS OFF OR NOT RUNNING PRESS THE 2WD BUTTON. I FOUND THAT I DIDN'T HAVE TO TAKE ANYTHING APART TO GET IT TO SHIFT BACK INTO 2WD.

******This solution also works for the 1994 Jimmy as well! *******
