Warsaw

Home of Marie Curie, Warsaw has been a historically significant city for centuries. From the Slaughter of Praga to the Warsaw Ghettos, the city has seen its share of dark and sometimes violent times. In more modern times, Warsaw brings a bit of light with its many music festivals. These include the Jewish Culture Festival - The Singer's Warsaw and the Old Polish Music Festival. Warsaw is home to the Polish National Opera and the Warsaw National Philharmonic.

A military alliance of communist nations in eastern Europe. Organized in 1955 in answer to NATO, the Warsaw Pact included Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and the Soviet Union. It disintegrated in 1991, in the wake of the collapse of communism in eastern Europe and the Soviet Union.

The treaty was signed in Warsaw on 14 May 1955, and the pact was dissolved in Prague on 1 July 1991.

The Warsaw Pact no longer exists. It was an alliance of the Eastern Bloc countries, established in 1955 by the Soviet Union as a counterpart to NATO.
It is not war saw, but Warsaw. In response to the birth of the NATO, the Communist countries of Europe signed a treaty of mutual defense and military aid in May 1955. The leading country of the Warsaw Pact was the USSR. This 'coalition' collapsed in 1991, when the USSR dissolved.

I visit Warsaw every year, and im always impressed with the new developments and attractions that are opening up. Being a modern kinda guy, i enjoy visiting the city center to gaze at what used to be nothing but rubble after the war, and what it has turned into now. Infact, i would highey recommend visit Zlote Tarasy shopping center, wich is located next to the also recommended Palace of Culture. If you are indeed visiting to do a bit of shopping, you'll be spoilt for choice Warsaw has to give you. You have Zlote Tarasy as previously mentioned, Arkadia (a 10mins Metro ride from the center), Panorama (located in the up and coming Praga), Blue City (15-20min ride by bus from the center) and plenty more! Another place you deffinetly would have to visit is Nowy Swiat Street, lined with only the best shops and resturants, its a wonderful place to walk up and down, beautiful arcitecture and overall a wonderful street.

The Old Town is a must! Id also recommend buying a local burger from one of the burger bars there! There are also beautiful churches near by all with fascinating insides. I still have to visit lots of places in Warsaw and what i have seen now is very impressive. The mix between the old and the new is inspiring, it shows you how far this country has come.
