Can Siamese cats see color?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No, not likechameleons or anything of that sort. They can, however, have their fur get a little darker or change in color very slightly from the time they are kittens to maturity. Older cats might become paler or grow some gray hair mixed in their coat. Some cats also become slightly lighter or darker when their winter coat grows in. All cats can have small changes like this, its not just limited to the Siamese breed.

You can tell the difference based on their genitals. A male would have the penis and testicles combo while the female will have a vagina. If the male has been neutered the testicle sack will still be there.

Are Siamese cats hairless?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

No they should remain the same.

-----------------------

It depends what light they're in, as ALL cats are tabbys, but you just can't see their stripes most of the time. The easiest places to see the stripes are the paws and the tail. --- No, not all cats are tabbies. Cats that are not tabbies are called selfs and you cannot see tabby markings anywhere. Your Siamese is a tabby or lynx-point Siamese. Not all shows accept this, but most do. If the markings are only on the tail and not on the face or legs, it may be considered a fault in breed standards.

Why do Siamese cats have a kink at the end of their tails?

User Avatar

Asked by EmmaW5

It is difficult to say. Early Siamese cats that were imported from Thailand had a kink in their tails, and for many decades this trait, along with Siamese cats being cross-eyed, were seen as proof that a cat was indeed of pure Siamese breeding - especially in cat shows.

Today, this trait is now considered a flaw within the Siamese breed and has largely been bred out, although it still persists among street cats in Thailand. Siamese cats bought from reputable breeders should not have kinks in their tails due to careful breeding programs.

If you live with a cat who is very skittish of you to the point of hiding every time you are around how do you get him to like you?

User Avatar

Asked by Silvereagle2061

It has been my experience that all cats get over skittishness behavior. It just takes a lot of patience and letting it decide when to make up to you. I took someone else's cat and it took 3 years for it to warm up to me and change its ways from the previous owner. The cat I took was 2 years old at the time I got it. Some cats remember things that happened to them and relate back when you force them to behave the way you would like. If it is important to you, then a dog would be a better pet. Cats are very independent creatures. I once had a cat who was totally wild and terrified of humans when I got her. I started out by going behind the couch and just sitting near her, letting her get used to seeing me, without me touching her, and I would talk softly to her as I did this. Then I progressed to laying my hand on the floor and putting it nearer to her each time she would get used to it enough to relax. Eventually I worked up to touching her once, then more and more over time. It took me two and a half months before she was climbing in my lap and purring like I was her best friend. You may not have as much time to work with your cat as I had, but if you do, this method worked for me. One thing that also may help is offering him food and/or catnip. If he learns to associate you with the food or the pleasure of catnip, he may learn to think of you as a person he wants to be around. Try to avoid making loud noises around him or sudden movements, especially while trying to get him used to you.

How many nipples do female cats have?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It depends on the species. Most possums of Australia, such as the Ringtail possum, the various Pygmy possums and the six species of gliders, have four nipples. The Brushtail possum has just two nipples in the pouch.

The opossum, which is NOT related to possums, has thirteen nipples arranged in a circular form. There may be as many as 17 nipples.

Why does my cat meow so loud?

User Avatar

Asked by Redboo2002

Could be due to the cat's age, whether it is an indoor/outdoor cat, wanting to play with you, but most often it is because the cat is exercising and honing its skills (jumping, prowling, pouncing, etc.).

Why are Siamese cats so loud?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The breed originated in Thailand, which was known as Siam during the period when the cats were first imported to the West, so the British named them "Siamese". In Thailand, where they have been bred for centuries, the cats are called "Wichien Maat".
