According to most biographical accounts Chief Crazy Horse was approximately 5 ft. 7 in. to 5 ft. 8 in. He was considered small in stature compared to other Lakota. At the time of his final surrender a calvary captain witnessing his arrival noted that he was surprised to see that the "great Sioux warrior appeared no more than a small boy."
His "older brother" Hump took him to battle and fought bravely. He was declared a man by his tribe and received his father's name, Crazy Horse.
My husband and I were there in April 2012 and paid $10 each to go see Crazy Horse Memorial and not much has been done (other than the face of crazy horse) which was completed in 1998.
The Crazy Horse Memorial was started back in 1948. So, obviously, it is a very slow work in progress.

Crazy Horse was pulled from the market decades ago...however...I have a case of 40 ounce bottles of the original Crazy Horse Malt Liquor for sale.
