To regulate passage of blood from the right ventricle into the pulmonary arteries (leading to the lungs). The valve prevents backward flow back into the ventricle and opens only when the right ventricle generates enough pressure from its contraction to squeeze the blood past the valve into the pulmonary arteries

technically there are two semilunar valves. the aortic semilunar valve is what oxygen rich blood is pumped through from left ventricle to the rest of the body. blood is pumped from the right ventricle through the pulmonary semilunar valve to the lungs to receive oxygen through the pulmonary arteries. (even though it is oxygen poor blood, arteries BY DEFINITION carry blood away from heart and veins return blood to the heart).

The aortic semilunar valves function is to close the left ventricle of the heart so the blood does not flow backwards into the heart. It is the one, with its partner the pulmonary semilunar valve, that makes the softer 'dupp' sound in the heartbeat.

They allow blood to flow from the atria to the ventricles and prevent it from flowing back when the ventricles contract.

Is the pulmonary valve a seminlunar valve?

Yes. The pulmonary valve is a semilunar valve between the right ventricle and the pulmonary trunk.

Valve preventing backflow into ventricles?

there r two valves: aortic semilunar valve and pulmonary semilunar valve

Where does blood flow from when it passes through the semilunar valve and into the lungs?

Semilunar valves are found throughout the body in veins, as they prevent backflow of deoxygenated blood. In the heart, there are two semilunar valves, the pulmonary semilunar valve and the aortic semilunar valve. The pulmonary semilunar valve is the gateway to the pulmonary artery, which then goes to the lungs. The aortic semilunar valve is the gateway to the aorta, which distributes oxygenated blood to the rest of the body.

What valve exits the right ventricle?

The pulmonary or pulmonic valve (a semilunar valve) controls blood flow from the right ventricle to the "pulmonary trunk" that branches into the two pulmonary arteries carrying blood to the lungs.
