B = Bridgette's age now
eqn. 1
G + 9 = B
eqn. 2
2(G - 2) = B - 2
substituting from eqn. 1 into eqn 2
2(G-2) = G + 9 - 2
simplifying
2G - 4 = G + 7
subtracting G from both sides and adding 4 to both sides
G = 11 (Gina is 11 years old right now)
so
B = 20
two years ago Gina was 9 and Bridgette was 18 - yup Bridget was twice as old as Gina two years ago and is currently (and has been since Gina was born) 9 years older than Gina.
