Rice grows best in hot and wet tropical and subtropical regions. There are two types of rice - lowland rice is grown in the river basins,deltas and coastal plains while upland rice grown on the terraced hill slopes.Rice requires temperatures of about 25degree celcious during growing seasons, Rainfall required is 150-200cm and the fields should be flooded.Clayey and alluvial soil is required.chemical fertilizers and insecticides are also used.
