Its pretty simple.
First there is a wiring harness in the back for the tail lights. Disconnect this at a connector
near the center of the rear bumper.
Next you will have to remove a few screws that attach the gas
filler to the bed.
Last you will have to remove the bolts
that hold the bed to the frame, as I remember you will need a 3/4" wrench fir this.
Two people can lift the bed off the frame.
How to remove bed rails from a dodge truck
Yes it will.
It is a real bear. I just changed the fuel pump by dropping the fuel tank. Found out afterwards, it would be far easier to remove the truck's bed.
out a s10 short bed truck putting back does the front have to have the bushing by the seal can you take it off
Remove the fuel tank or remove the bed, your choice.
remove the bed of the truck.....
in the fuel tank. it was easier for me to unbolt and remove the bed to gain access to the fuel pump.
Easy 4 to 6 bolts.
i believe they're 15 mm the main bed bolts are 15 mm but there are two 13 mm's, one on each of the frame rails, that also need to be removed. these are for the grounds of the wiring system and are very important to remember to hook back up up your truck WILL NOT start :)
dodge truck beds bolt on from the bottom, you will need to remove the rear bumper assembly and the fuel filler neck from the side of the bed too. then just call a few friends to help lift.
Remove the fuel tank or remove the bed.
You have to unbolt the truck bed and raise it about 12 inches and access the pump between the frame and the bottom of the bed. You cannot drop the tank from the because of the drive shaft and exhaust system. Even with the drive shaft and exhaust out of the truck, you still have to take apart some of the frame to drop the tank. It's much easier to raise the bed.
