No , the 5.0 liter came as 2 wheel drive or all wheel drive with no low range
No , the 5.0 liter V8 engine in a 1998 Ford Explorer was used with either rear wheel drive or all wheel drive ( that has no LOW range on the transfer case )
On my 1995 Ford Explorer with the 4.0 liter OHV , V6 engine , the starter is on the drivers side of the engine , low down , where the transmission is bolted to the engine
Press the low range button again, or turn the 4x4 off all together.
Ford Explorers are either rear wheel drive , 4x4 ( that has a LOW RANGE ) for the transfer case , or all wheel drive ( which does not have a low range ) * up to the 2010 model year *
In a 1997 Ford Explorer : Control Trac is Fords name for the 4x4 system , with the 2 speed transfer case ( it has a LOW RANGE that can be used off-road )
On a 2000 Ford Explorer , that has the Control Trac 4x4 system , or if it is an All Wheel Drive system ( V8 only ) that has no low range . ( the transfer case is bolted to the rear of the transmission )
On the 4.0 liter - OHV - V6 , it's low down on the drivers side of the engine , where the transmission is bolted to the engine
On the 4.0 liter OHV , V6 engine the starter is on the drivers side of the engine , low down , where the transmission is bolted to the rear of the engine
On the 4.0 liter OHV , V6 engine the starter is on the drivers side of the engine , low down , where the engine is connected to the transmission
( 8 spark plugs ) with the 302 cubic inch / 5.0 liter V8 ( the All Wheel Drive system only came with the V8 engine , it has no low range in the transfer case )
Trouble code P1120 means: Throttle Position Sensor A Out Of Range Low (Ratch too low)
my 92 ford explorer has the same problem and i dont know why... i turn the key to on, then the light for the low range turns on w/o turning the motor over i tried pushing the button off, but light stays on and i just noticed it last night, plus i drove it and it seemed to drive just fine as if it were not even in low range?????????? Hi! I had an Expedition with the same issue, check and ensure that your tires, all four are inflated properly. This should allow you to then take it out of low range
