Hit a curb- steering wheel off center at first- but more importantly the wheel doesnt lock when i turn it full one direction or another- it pops and turns some more- ideas as to why?

The Steering locks might be damaged in the rack and pinion or the
teeth them selves in the rack and pinion could be stripped
Also the problem might be in the steering linkage going to the rack and pinion.
