I personally have lived in both America and Canada so I am in a good position to answer this question, and the two countries are in most ways extremely alike; Americans and Canadians eat similar food, wear similar types of clothing, live in similar houses, in most cases speak the same language (English), read the same books, watch the same movies, have democratic elections to elect our respective governments, pay similar taxes, support similar causes (both the US and Canada have been fighting in Afghanistan, for example) and have similar values, have similar standards of living, similar school systems, similar religious practices, and so forth. I sometimes say that the only way you can tell which country you are in is by seeing whose face is on the currency.

Alberta, Canada and Kansas, US alike?
Both are cultural regions located in the Americas. Anglo-America is composed almost primarily by Canada and the United States, while Latin America is composed of all Spanish, French and Portuguese speaking countries south of the US.
