Communism and democracy are not mutually exclusive. If you mean different from a Capitalist country ( not necessarily a democracy! ), the difference is that in a communist country the State is the only stockholder, owning all the means of production, the factories and stores and businesses.
Communism means a society without classes or government or money, and will have to be at a global level. It will be truly democratic, with no rulers, just people deciding things for themselves.
