All energy can be defined in Joules, and kinetic energy and potential energy have the same make-up, this is called having the same 'Dimensions'. this means the same components of Mass, Length, and Time.

Thus kinetic energy is 1/2 x M x V2, which we can write as [M] x [L2] [T-2]

(velocity is distance/time)

Potential gravitational energy is M x G x H, which we can write as [M] x [L] [T-2] x [L]

( G is acceleration due to gravity, and is distance/time2, H is distance)

so both come out to be dimensions of [M] [L2] [T-2]

Potential energy of other types will have the same dimensions. Calories are equivalent to Joules (1 calorie = 4.2 Joules) for example, and we can also write nuclear energy as Joules if we want to, though scientists use electron-volts instead, but they have the same dimensions.

What do heat temperature and thermal energy have in common?

they are both energy

How are temperature thermal energy and heat related?

Temperature, heat and thermal energy all deal with kentic energy.

How is thermal energy and temperature same?

They are not the same. "Thermal energy" is the same as "heat".

How does temperature affect energy?

Thermal energy is heat. More heat is more thermal energy.

Heat is the transfer of thermal energy because of difference?

Heat is not the transfer of thermal energy. Heat is the thermal energy. What drives itacross a boundary between substances or objects is a difference in their temperatures.

Is light thermal energy?

Thermal energy is not light. It is heat! Energy of heat and temperature of matter (more heat=more thermal energy=more movement of molecules) Temperature measures movement of molecules

Are Heat energy and thermal energy opposite?

Thermal energy is the energy contained in a system at a specific temperature a combination of kinetic and potential of the particles. Heat Energy is similar as Thermal energy but when you add heat energy the Temperature of the system may decrease on increase.

Why does thermal energy depends on temperature?

Thermal energy relies on temperature because it uses the heat to produce energy.

What is the name for thermal energy that is transfered only from a higher temperature to a lower temperature?

All thermal energy flows from high temperature objects to low temperature objects. This is the nature of thermal energy.

Energy that is related to heat and the temperature of matter?

Thermal energy is energy that is related to heat and the temperature of matter.

What is the relationship between thermal energy heat and temperature?

thermal energy increases as temperature increases

How are thermal energy and temperature related how are they different?

Thermal energy ie heat is the CAUSE and temperature is the EFFECT.
