Tidal waves are not used to generate electricity. A tidal wave is a huge wave, rather like a tsunami, that occurs very infrequently, and without warning.

Tides are harnessed to produce electricity, and also waves are used, but not tidal waves.

What is the start up time for wave power station?

The world's first commercial wave farm, generating electricity from ocean waves is based in Portugal, at the Aguçadora Wave Park, and there is funding available for farms of various designs in Scotland, Oregon (US), Cornwall (UK) and Western Australia. At the moment there are various small pilot studies being carried on throughout the world to generate electricity from ocean waves. Depending on the size, the design and the money available the start up time could be anything from two years up to ten.

How is water related to electricity?

There are several ways for water to generate electricity:Hydroelectric Power: Water from a high location or from behind a dam flows through a turbine to turn a generatorWave Power: The oscillations of waves lift and lower floats which turn generatorsTidal Power: Tides flowing in and out of narrow estuaries turn turbinesThermal Power: Water is turned to steam by burning fuel or nuclear energy. The stream turns a turbine to turn generatorsGeothermal Power: Water turned to steam by the Earth's heat is directed through steam turbines to turn generatorsSolar Power: Sunlight is turned to electricity by solar panels. The electricity is used to turn water to hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen is collected as a fuel for fuel cells.

Can you please give me information about electricity?

Electricity is the science, engineering, technology and physical phenomena associated with the presence and flow of electric charges. Electricity gives a wide variety of well-known electrical effects, such as lightning, static electricity, electromagnetic induction and the flow of electrical current in an electrical wire. In addition, electricity permits the creation and reception of electromagnetic radiation such as radio waves.

Is 400 kHz Low Frequency?

In relation to a/c mains electricity, or to audio frequencies, 400 kHz is very high. In relation to radio waves it is fairly low.

What inventions hastened the development of electricity?

Electricity was always there in nature. It became known to man when the greeks found out that if you rub amber with silk it could attract tiny pieces of hair or paper. Later Benjamin Franklin discovered that lightning is actually electricity and that it flows through metal easily. Scientists used electrolytes to produce electricities which led to the discovery of cells and batteries. This was used to produce DC. Then burning of fossil fuels led to enormous production of electricity(DC). Edison discovered the many things known to man and revolutionized DC electricity. In that century Oersted discovered the connection of electricity and magnetism and Faraday postulated his laws about electromagnetism. It was Tesla who invented the dynamo that produced AC which challenged Edison's line of work. (To be frank with you i think that Tesla should be considered as the father of inventions and not Edison.) Tesla also devised a machine called Tesla Coil which had the potential to conduct electricity to the lights and other electronics via the air. He used the concept of radio waves(which are also electromagnetic waves). He even used this technology to produce a Mass Scale Tesla Coil which produce so violent electricity that it destroyed a huge plot of land. This came to be known as the Death Ray. But it is a marvelous invention.

Where is tidal power in the world?

France has the biggest tidal power plant on the face of the earth, unfortunately the only tidal plant in Europe. Tidal power uses energy in ocean movement (waves) to generate electricity. Tidal power, sometimes called tidal energy, is a form of hydropower that converts the energy of tides into electricity or other useful forms of power. Although not yet widely used, tidal power has potential for future electricity generation. Tides are more predictable than wind energy and solar power. Historically, tide mills have been used, both in Europe and on the Atlantic coast of North America.

Does tidal mills make as much energy as tidal waves?

It's difficult to say. A tidal wave, or a tsunami, has an amazing amount of power, but it is all over in a hour or two. Tidal mills can capture the tidal water twice a day and use it to generate clean electricity. This will continue for ever (or until the turbines need to be replaced).

How do we get energy from Hydropower?

Dams: Falling water spins turbines to generate electricity.Wave power: Ocean waves transfer their energy to moving machinery which generates electricity.Tidal power: Tidal water rushes through narrow channels turning electricity generators.

How can be use tidal energy?

Tidal energy, that is, the movement of large amounts of water as the tide ebbs and flows, is being harnessed in various places and experiments around the world. A good position is where a lot of water rushes in and out of a narrow channel, because a turbine there can capture the force and generate electricity. Other trials continue trying to harness the constant power of the waves to generate electricity. All this is, of course, renewable energy.

Does a hydro electric power station use waves to generate electricity?

It depends on the type of power station. Some, such as dams just use the weight of the water coming out. Tidal powerstations use the force of the tides, kind of like how windmills use wind. I, however, do not believe that there are currently any sources of hydroelectric power that use waves.

What are energy transformations in a tidal wave power station?

There are no tidal wave power stations.Tidal waves are unpredictable. There is no way at present to capture their energy. We can capture the energy of tides and also of waves, but not of tidal waves.

What places can use wave power?

wave energy as in tidal energy? because it is being used! in France and planned for the bay of fundy in canada. erosion does present a problem but theyre working on it. No, wave energy is different. Can be used where there are sufficient waves.

Is wave power and tidle power the same?

No, they are not the same. Wave power refers to electricity or high pressure pumped water which is derived from the transformation of the kinetic and potential energy of ocean waves. Tidal energy refers to electricity which is derived from the transformation of the kinetic energy of tidal flows through narrow channels or from the potential energy of seawater impounded from tidal flows.

Could tidal power keep the moon in perpetual motion as well as generating surplus power for use on Earth?

Tidal power is caused by the moon (largely). Tidal power has no effect on the moon.Yes, tidal power, if it is harnessed properly by wave motion machines, dams and barrages, has enough power to generate all the Earth's electricity needs. However, this power is difficult to capture. Dams and river barrages are large and cause some damage to the environment and obstruction to river travel.Various experiments are underway trying to find suitable ways of harnessing the power of tides and ocean waves. No one has discovered a cheap and easy way to do it yet.

Why is tidal wave power energy good?

some advantages of tidal energy are, continuous, predictable energy. Another benefit of tidal power is that it is predictable. The gravitational forces of celestial bodies are not going to stop anytime soon.

Are tidal waves and wave power the same thing?

No, they are different.

How are waves used to generate electricity?

The waves turn a wheel which turns a pistel that creates an electrical charge
