Minerals generally refer to the micro nutrients that your body needs, often refer to simple single elements like sodium (Na), potassium(K), and iron(Fe) etc.

Vitamins are also micro nutrients needed by your body but are not simple one element minerals, but organic molecules which contain carbon for example, vitamin C is L-ascorbic acid, a more complex organic compound.

If you do one or the other, your body will have all sorts of problems over time. Each vitamin and mineral are needed for various daily maintenance and/or fuel for one bodily function or another.
