Aspen groves are made up of a common root system, and all the "trees" are stems. That makes it technically a single plant, and at least one covers over a hundred acres. There are also some fungus growths that cover large areas and are, technically, a single plant.

However, if you are asking about the single largest tree, that would be the Coast Redwood of the Pacific Northwest. The largest single-stem tree ever measured was the Lindsey Creek Tree, a coast redwood with a minimum trunk volume of over 2,500 m3 (88,000 cu ft) and a mass of over 3,600 short tons (3,300 t). It fell over during a storm in 1905.
