∙ 10y agoBjarne Stroustrup changed the name from 'C with Classes' to C++ in 1983. It was intended as a pun, since C++ in code means the successor to C. In truth it should really have been called ++C, since C++ literally returns C, not C+1. Regardless, C is still incremented, so the name stuck.
