There are a few good options to improve mileage a fair bit. There is a lot of stuff to read and most questions on the forum get answered really fast.
You will want to read about K&N intakes and a "TUNED" PCM. The exhaust on these trucks is very free flowing and has only enough restriction to make the VVT work properly.

Make sure the engine is running properly. Make sure the tire pressure is set to factory specs. Do not haul around anything you do not need. Take off slow and drive the speed limit. That is about all you can do with this vehicle. It will never get good fuel mileage.
