If you're referring to the common science demonstration, the answer is that the heated air in the bottle expands.

When it re-cools (after the egg has been placed on the neck of the bottle) it is at a much lower pressure than the surrounding atmosphere; the weight of the air above it is then sufficient to push the egg into the bottle.

the match within the bottle uses air to keep burning creating a vacuum. the vacuum creates a suction which makes the egg goes inside the bottle

- The match does not create the vacuum by "using air". The air escapes. The flame heats up the air, causing it to expand. The expanding air escapes by very slightly lifting the egg just enough for the air to escape. When the match depletes the available oxygen (which has now been converted to oxygen-containing-compounds like CO as opposed to disappearing), it goes out. The air cools and retracts. Since the egg prevents air from entering the bottle, a vacuum is created.

yes its call the egg in the bottle trick. first, hard boil the egg next, you must put a piece of paper into the glass bottle. then, light the paper on fire and then put the egg on top of the bottle soon the egg will fall into the bottle for more descriptive answers to your question go to http://Google.com/ and type in egg in the bottle trick

Optional- Put water in the bottom of the bottle and hold the bottle (w/ egg on top) over a hot stove.

Step 1: Hard boil and egg, find an empty bottle and a match.

Step 2: Light match and drop into bottle.

Step 3: place egg onto opening of the bottle.

As the match burns the oxygen inside the bottle, it creates a vacuum, sucking the egg inside the bottle.

well, Most commonly the relationship between the egg going into the bottle and the burning piece of paper is misunderstood. Students, and teachers sometimes, explain this phenomena by saying that the burning paper uses up the oxygen in the "closed" bottle (closed because egg seals the top); and therefore, there is a lack of oxygen molecules in the bottle, resulting in a pressure difference between the inside and outside of the bottle, forcing the egg to get "pushed" into the bottle. This is incorrect. The proper response is that the burning paper heats up the inside of the bottle, causing the air molecules on the inside of the bottle to gain kinetic energy and therefore "escape" the bottle. This leaves the pressure differential that causes the egg to get pushed into the bottle. The reason the other answer is incorrect is because as the burning paper uses up the oxygen, it replaces those molecules with carbon dioxide molecules and water vapor. Therefore, there is really no significant gain or loss of molecules from a chemical standpoint.

it goes inside the bottle because the air is equal at first but when you put the fire inside then the egg the air is unbalanced so the atoms and the molecules cool and suck the egg inside.

You light a piece of paper put it in the bottle and put the boiled egg on top. As the paper burns, the oxygen is burned. This creates a vacuum that then sucks the egg in.

Can you get a raw egg sucked into a bottle?

Yes, place a flame (match, candle, etc) inside the bottle, then quickly place an egg on top. As the air in the bottle burns, the pressure will drop and the egg will be sucked into the bottle.

Who invented the egg in a bottle experiment?

These are experiments where an egg is sucked into a bottle, when -- the bottle is heated, then allowed to cool -- a burning piece of paper is placed inside These have been used to demonstrate the effects of -- temperature and pressure -- the chemical binding of oxygen by oxidation ...and have been around since the 19th century (anytime since the invention of the glass milk bottle around 1877).

Why does an egg sink into a glass bottle but not a plastic bottle?

It floats because the water is heaver then the bottle. The bottle is light so it floats. No,It floats because the particles are free to move inside but with water in it there is not enough space for the particles to move so it floats.

How does the oxygen being burned in a bottle create vacuum that sucks an egg in?

because there is is a pressure difference between the inside of the bottle and the outside. the pressure is lower in the bottle the egg gets sucked in. when the oxygen is burned there is less matter in the bottle then at first and that results in less pressure[vacuum]

How do you get an egg into milkbottle?

MATERIALS NEEDED: glass bottle with a long, narrow neck (an apple cider jug works well), boiled egg, matches. PROCESS: Put the empty bottle on a table, Peel the boiled egg, Light a match and drop it into the bottle. Repeat about three or four times, Quickly put the egg over the mouth of the bottle. EXPLANATION: The lit match heats the air inside the bottle. When air is heated it expands and takes up more room. As the heated air expands, some of it escapes out of the bottle. When the matches go out, the air inside the bottle cools and contracts, which takes up less room. This creates a lower pressure inside the bottle than outside the bottle. The greater pressure outside the bottle forces the egg to get sucked into the bottle.

What is the theory behind the experiment in which a boiled egg is sucked into the bottle when an ignited match stick is put inside when the boiled egg being placed at the mouth of the bottle?

When the air cools it retracts creating a vacuum. The Vacuum then pulls the egg into the bottle. Since the vacuum acts equally across the surface of the egg, it is able to gently but quickly pull the egg through the opening without breaking it... most of the time.

How is drinking from a straw the same as an egg going into a glass bottle?

Drinking from a straw is the same as an egg going into a glass bottle, because air pressure in both cases is used to move something. In the straw, you reduce the air pressure in the straw, so the air pressure around the drink pushes it up into the straw and into your mouth. In the egg, you reduce the air pressure in the bottle, and air pressure around the egg pushes it down into the bottle.

Who made the thermoscope?

Galileo created the thermoscope by taking a small glass bottle, about the size of an egg; that had a long neck, that was full of water. He heated the bottle with his hands and submerged it in a large bottle of water.

What is a really really easy science experimennt for a science fair that is so easy a prep student could handle it?

The old Egg In a Bottle air pressure test. You need matches, a hard-boiled egg, and a glass bottle whose mouth is a little smaller than the egg's diameter. Light one or two matches, and carefully but quickly drop them in the bottle (you want the matches to still be burning in the bottle. Then put the egg on the mouth fo the bottle. The matches burn up all the oxygen in the bottle, decreasing the air pressure. The greater air-pressure outside the bottle pushes the egg down into the bottle without anyone touching the egg.
