By definition, an allele is another form of a gene wherein it is usually subjected to a mutation in which it could be either classified as dominant or recessive. In addition, the utilization of an allele is among the common causes for determining the trait of an organism because "it causes a certain type of protein to form."
So, a trait is controlled at a gene locus. If the gene at this locus can produce more than one result, these variants are called alleles.
The term gene and allele are often used interchangably.
For example. If there are two alleles for hair coat color A and a, where A produces
a red hair coat and a produces a black hair coat a heterozygous individual would have one copy of each allele per chromosome.
Homozygous Dominant would be AA and the individual would be red
Heterozygous individuals would be Aa and red
Homozygous recessive indivduals would be aa and have black hair coats.
A gene is a section of DNA that codes for a trait E.G. eye colour. A gene is made up of several alleles one from each parent and this is how traits are passed on from parent to child. For more information on inheritance research Mendelian genetics
Well a gene is sort of like a chromosone or DNA. They all fall into the same category. Genes, I think, can cause you to hav the same color hair as your parents. Depending on whether you're male or femal you will have different genes. Ex. My sister has blue eyes like her mom but has red hair like her dad.
Genes are like the building blocks to traits, some are dominant, some are recessive to be simple with it. If a gene is dominant it will "show" for a particular trait. If a gene is recessive, it will only "show" if both of the genes to that trait are recessive.
The allele causes a certain type of protein to form
An allele causes a trait by either being dominant orrecessive or example, allele A will occur over allele a because it is dominant.
Homozygous Dominant for a trait means that an organism has two dominant alleles for that trait. Here's an example: Trait: Widow's Peak Widow's Peak allele: Dominant (D) No widow's peak allele: Reccessive(d) Homozygous Dominant (DD) Homozygous Reccessive (dd) Heterozygous (Dd)
Is one whose trait always shows up in the organism when the allele is present
An allele is a gene for a specific trait. Cells contain two alleles for every gene, with one allele provided by each parent of an organism.
The allele causes a certain type of protein to form
The dominant allele is the trait that shows up in the organism when the allele is present
An allele causes a trait by either being dominant orrecessive or example, allele A will occur over allele a because it is dominant.
The allele would not be passed on to further generations, as the organism cannot reproduce. There would be a smaller population of that organism who's genetic code does not contain the allele for that particular trait.
One allele would be dominant and the second allele would be recessive, so the organism would show only the dominant trait.
Heterozygous.
Heterozygous
true
If the the trait is controlled by only one allele and the allele is completely dominant then once inherited the offspring with exhibit that phenotype
Heterozygous.
An allele is an acquired trait which determines the phenotype and genotype of an organism.
Heterozygous.
