How can culture affect economics?

By influencing what consumers buy. Every tweenage girl wants/buys anything related to vampires, creating a larger market for vampires, funneling funds into manufacturers. This signifies they want more vampire-crap made, because they will buy it. This is common in books, action figures, tv shows, and movies.
Thus, culture has effected* economics.
