The hope is that it can. It is part of human nature to be made uneasy by what is unfamiliar - a fact that is unavoidable. It takes more than a few progressive individuals to eradicated social inequality, which is why educating the masses about different cultures and ethnicities and customs can give society as a whole a fighting chance, as doing so will expose similarities between the different groups, which can foster good relations through commiseration. Resistance to open-mindedness will fade in future generations, and some day in the future, we will all live in a true global community.
