The damaging gases we have released into the air have one main detrimental effect that causes global warming. Because earth has an amazing thing that allows it to sustain life--- the atmosphere, these gases (refered to as "green house gases") get trapped in it. As we add to the gases, the global temperature goes up. Think of it like this- when you add more and more blankets on ourselves, more heat becomes trapped between the matierial and our bodies. As we add gases, more heat becomes trapped by the harmful gases. Although 2 degrees (F), more or less, may not seem like a big deal when it comes to the weather, it is. Human's and animal's body temperature is regulated-- and increasing the body temperature can make the person/ animal feel ill. The earth's animals, water, plants, and just about everything living on it, can be drastically effected by a two degree difference. As with the glaciers, tempuratures are rising, causing them to melt. Since their size is so large, they have a great deal of water to release. They are melting at an alarming rate, which causes water to rise. Although it seems a very minute difference is being made, the repricotions after another 1 or 2 hundred years or more may, and most likely will, be disastorous.
Global warming is the cause of rising sea levels because the warming makes the oceans expand, so the levels rise. Also the melting of land ice like ice caps and glaciers runs into the sea and raises the levels.
Glaciers are melting ice.It mainly found on mountains or cold regions. When glaciers melts it goes down to get its way into the sea.Well,if the amount of melted water is not that much, nothing would happen. If it is much then it may make seas flood the earth.
Glacial ice melt inevitably ends up in the oceans. There is enough ice on Greenland to raise ocean levels approximately 7 meters (almost 20 feet). Antarctic ice is not expected to melt for centuries, but there is enough fresh water locked up there to raise ocean levels some 60 meters (200 feet). Thermal expansion of seawater is another contributor to this.
sea levels will increase!
Tides are the result of gravitational forces between the Earth and moon. Global warming would little effect on tidal patterns although sea levels can be affected by global warming.
it was swallowed up by the sea, as global warming takes effect the sea levels rise and it drowned the island and its resources
The Heat From The Sun (Global Warming) Will Melt The Polar Ice Caps; This Will Make The Sea Levels Rise And Animals Such As Polar Bears And Penguins May Become Endangered.
hurricanes and other extreme weather will increase
Yes, sea water temperatures are already rising because of global warming. Warming water expands, so this is raising the sea levels. Melting glaciers and ice caps are also adding fresh water to the oceans, again raising sea levels. So global warming is going raise sea temperatures and make the seas less salty.
Water expands when it warms. So sea levels rise. The Antarctic ice caps melt as a result of global warming. This puts more water into the oceans thus raising sea levels.
Global warming is already raising sea levels. Many coastal areas are going to flood. We will have to abandon many towns and cities. Fragile people are especially at risk from heat waves.
global warming
The natural greenhouse effect is not raising sea levels, but the enhanced (or accelerated) greenhouse effect which is causing global warming, is. The warmer atmosphere is melting glaciers and expanding the water in the oceans, so sea levels are rising.
sea levels will increase!
Ice will melt due to Global Warming.....Arctic sea ice (the habitat of polar bears)Antarctic land ice (raising sea levels)Mountain glaciers (cutting off the year round water feed for great rivers).
Global warming will increase the size of deserts.Rising sea levels will submerge some landforms.
Much of Bangladesh's coastal lands are flat and low-lying. Global warming is warming the oceans, so the water expands and the sea levels rise. Melting ice from glaciers on Greenland and Antarctica is also raising sea levels. This will mean Bangladesh's coastlands will be flooded with salt water, killing all crops for ever.
Global warming is melting land ice all around the world, particularly glaciers, Greenland and Antarctica. This is raising sea levels and will flood many coastal plains. So the maps of countries will change.
Global warming has changed the world by making changes in the weather. It has also affected the sea levels and the ecosystems.
