Writing and Speaking are connected when a teacher is teaching like she is writing on board and also speaking. but they are both not very much interlinked as speaking and listening.
Writing skills theories are different interpretation or views of the skill which is writing. Writing is a way of communication and writing skill is the ability to produce a piece of text.

Firstly, being able to speak and write is very important. In many scenarios, writing and speaking can be the first impression. If we do not speak and write well, others may think that we are unprofessional. We may have the best idea in the world but if our writing and speaking skills are below average, people would not listen to us. If we have good writing and speaking skills, we can persuade others. Extensive writing is a skill that most English native speaking people lack, it's just writing down whatever you want about a topic or anything in general. It helps with sentence fluency and just overall paragraph and word structuring.
