There are several complicated ways to accomplish this which will need you to add a TV tuner and get a cable/Dish connection to watch TV on the Laptop. Best of all, it still won't be portable.I wanted the same thing for my laptop and I decided to buy a satellite connection and feel its the best & cheapest way out. ∙ 13y agoThere are several ways to display a computer image on a television and it depends on the connections available on the computer and the television.
Most computers have either a VGA connection, a DVI connection or an HDMI connector.
If there is a VGA connector, it may connect to a VGA connector on the television although it's not common that VGA connectors are fitted. Possibly, there might be a set of RCA (phono) connectors marked R, G, B, H, V. A suitable lead will be needed and it is important to confirm that the television will handle VGA timings which are normally different to broadcast signals.
If the computer has a DVI or HDMI, these should connect to an HDMI input on the television. Note that DVI is compatible with HDMI for video signals although it doesn't carry audio. HDMI - DVI leads can be bought from many computer or television stores. Most televisions also have a separate audio input attached to at least one of the HDMI inputs to allow a separate audio signal to be inserted.
The first thing to do is to read the TV manual and find out what it says about computer displays. There is normally some useful guidance in every manual.
