How can one fix a loose transmission dipstick tube on an 2001 Ford F150?
You can start by pulling the dip stick housing out, then putting some rtv black silicone around the bottom, below the bubbled out part. wait about the time it takes to smoke a cigarett and put it back in the tranny. Now most of the dipsticks bolt in with one of the tranny bolts, you may need to check to see is it has come loose or even maby broke loose. In this case you can ether quick fix for now by using a zip tie, and tieing it to something close by and stationary or replace the dip stick housing.
Assuming you mean a manual transmission, since you said gear oil, there is not a dipstick on manual transmissions. Look on the side of the transmission. There will be two large nuts to drain and fill. The bottom to drain, the top to fill. You should have your fluid level with the fill plug hole. BTW, I have an 86 F-150 4x4 5.0 EFI and the NP435 4-speed manual transmission.
There is no dipstick for a manual transmission on a 94 for f150. To check the fluid you will need to get under the truck and remove a check plug. The plug will be about half way up the trans case either on the left or right side. Take the plug out and put your finger in the hole. The fluid should be withing 1/2 inch of the hole. Make sure you pull the plug…
